MapSvgEditor
A bespoke javascript SVG editor to create simple markedup maps.
Made for a specific purpose we have, to create specialised maps of certain countries to include in reports and documentations.
This software is 100% Vibe coded with Mistral Large 4 LLM. The prompt is in the repo, could be fun, if you ran it in your own LLM, and compared the results. Please contact me if you do !
How to use:
Theres a few options to set in settings.json, names should be self explanatory:
{ "title": "SVG Map Editor", "description": "A vibe coded map editor", "defaultFile": "default.svg", "help": { "text": "Help", "url": "https://example.com/help" } }
The default file is located in the "files" folder, and loads as default when accessed. Its possible to indicate in the URL also.
Other than that, it just needs an http server - its basic HTML, Javascript and CSS.
You feed it an SVG file, select the objects and colour them. Add a headline, and a legend of the colours selected.
Export as JPG or PNG in desired width and height.
Please note, for maps of countries, group objects before loading it - countries can span different islands and locations.
